Dear Local Government Ombudsmen,

Assuming that the LGOs work 219 days a year, in 08/09 Jerry White
claimed nearly £40 PER DAY on "other" travel.

In 95/96 Mr White managed to carry out his duties while spending
less than £1 PER WEEK on hotels/subsistence/other travel combined!

Why did Mr White claim more than two hundred times as much from the
public purse for travel in 08/09 as he did in 95/96 to carry out
the same duties?

Yours faithfully,

Mark Price

Nearly £40 per working day was Jerry White's expenditure on "other" travel in the year 08/09. Ms Pook rejected my request for an explanation of this (above) stating that the calculation was incorrect. But it was not. £8691 divided by 219 working days is £39.68 per day.

Ms Pook had responded on 27 Oct 09 to an FOI request with figures that stated that Jerry White claimed £44.00 in 95/96 for other travel (in fact, it was for everything as £0 was spent on anything else). The £8691 "other" travel in 08/09 is 197.5 times the £44 "other" travel in 95/96. Yet Ms Pook again argued that my calculation was incorrect. Clearly it wasn't.
