G Rooks made this Freedom of Information request to Bradford City Council
Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Bradford City Council should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Bradford City Council,
Using the freedom of Information as my authority, i would like to
know.
A)How many Houses within your boundary of responsibility do not pay
council rates because the occupants class their dwelling as a place
of religion.
B)Since there are a number of fringe religions, i would also like
to know their denominations.
C)I would like to know also, how they class them as a place of
religion, whether by (C1) prayer, or converted to hold a number of
people as a (C2) gathering.
Yours faithfully,
GRooks

Good afternoon,
I do apologise for the delay in responding to your e-mail request for
information but it has taken some time in reaching me. This is a business
as usual request from my point of view and this is the way in which it is
being treated.
Under the provisons of the Places of Worship Registration Act 1955 a place
of meeting for religious worship may be certified by the Registrar
General. If a building is certified a certificate is issued which can be
presented to the Council Tax Department. To submit an application the
proprietor/trustees of the building must submit a plan of the building
showing all the rooms in the building and the usages of those rooms
together with a timetable of all the activities that take place in the
building. Should the building contain any living accommodation that has
to be clearly identified. The building would be registered by the
Registrar General specifically excluding any living accommodation or
unused area. For example, a three storey building could be registered as
ground floor only of whatever address. There are therefore no statistics
in response to your query.
Regards
