Mr Fairchild made this Freedom of Information request to North Yorkshire County Council
The request was successful.
From: Mr Fairchild
15 December 2009
Dear North Yorkshire County Council,
Please could you provide a list of any commercial premises or land
owned by yourselves that are currently empty. I am only interested
in buildings with an area greater than 1,000 sq feet (approx 100 sq
metres) unless it is easier for you to simply supply a complete
list, and only interested in land that is
vacant/derelict/brownfield/unused countryside. If possible, please
include property known to be empty but that is currently let to
tenants. Derelict buildings are of particular interest.
Where you have information on the above owned by the district
councils, I would be grateful if this could be included also.
Yours faithfully,
Mr. Fairchild

Dear Mr Fairchild
Please find attached a spreadsheet showing vacant and surplus commercial property owned by the Council.
None of the properties are derelict though a number are in need of comprehensive refurbishment.
Tanpit Lodge, Kingsmill and Starbeck Depots are occupied; vacant possession will be available in due course but not immediately.
We do not hold details of any vacant properties owned by district councils in our area, so I suggest that you ask them directly - please see attached contact details
If you require further details please contact me.
Yours sincerely
Carol Wood
