Dear Harrogate Borough Council,

Please could you provide a list of any commercial premises or land
owned by yourselves that are currently empty. I am only interested
in buildings with an area greater than 1,000 sq feet (approx 100 sq
metres) unless it is easier for you to simply supply a complete
list, and only interested in land that is
vacant/derelict/brownfield/unused countryside. If possible, please
include property known to be empty but that is currently let to
tenants. Derelict buildings are of particular interest.

Thank you for your email of 16 December 2009, which requested a list of "currently empty" commercial premises or land undre the ownership of Harrogate Borough Council.

Commercial premises

A full list of all property particulars (including floor areas) on all empty properties currently available to lease is detailed on the Council's website (harrogate.gov.uk) under the section headed Business. You will note some of these properties have a floor area of less than 1000 sq ft.

The Council does not currently have any vacant properties that are still subject to a lease i.e. the tenant has vacated but is still paying rent.

If you require further information about any of these properties or would like to view them, please contact the relevant officer in my team or myself.

Empty land

The Council does not have any "empty" land available. All land within the ownership of the Council is either designated under planning as public open space or for a specific use (e.g. car parking) or leased out on farm (e.g. farm business tenancies)

Are there any buildings that aren't being actively marketed, but
which are empty? An example might be a derelict building, or a
building held for long-term strategic purposes.
