Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)

1 October 2009

Dear Mr or Ms Britain

Freedom of Information Act Request Reference No: 2009090006437
I write in connection with your request for information which was received
by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) on 28/09/2009. I note you seek
access to the following information:

· Please send me all emails to and from MET press officers between
29th March 09 and 5th April 09. Please not FOIA also covers any backups
you may have made of email systems.

Before I am able to proceed with your request, I would like to ask if it
is possible for you to provide me with some further details to clarify
what information you are requesting.

Firstly, the request itself states only that you seek "all emails to and
from MET press officers". Would you be able to confirm for me that the
emails you are interested in are those to and from MPS staff to
journalists, as the title of your email suggests. If there is a particular
subject area you are interested in, this would also be helpful.

Secondly, the term "MET press officers" is a broad one, and I would like
to able to define this term more clearly. For example, the Directorate of
Public Affairs employs 76 press officers, however, certain other units and
Directorates throughout the MPS also have press officers (the Human
Resources directorate being an example). To help me identify which
individuals I need to contact to locate the information you have
requested, could you confirm for me whether you are seeking emails to and
from all MPS press officers, or if you are only concerned with those in
the Directorate of Public Affairs. Again, if there is a particular subject
area you are interested, this would be helpful.
After receiving your reply, your request will then be considered and you
will receive the information requested within the statutory timescale of
20 working days, subject to the information not being exempt or containing
a reference to a third party.

However, if the requested additional information has not been received by
4th January 2010, I will assume you no longer wish to proceed with this
request and I will treat it as withdrawn.

COMPLAINT RIGHTS

Your attention is drawn to the attached sheet which details your right of
complaint.

Should you have any further enquiries concerning this matter, please write
or contact Louise Lander on telephone number 0207 0915565 quoting the
reference number above.

Yours sincerely,
