Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to receive details of: (1) the number of persons in
the local authority (LA) of compulsory school age who are
electively home educated and (2) the number of persons in the LA
who claim to be electively home educated;

who have been either suspected or found to be involved in child
abuse, neglect, forced marriage, sexual exploitation or domestic
servitude.

In addition, how many SAOs have been issued in total and how many
have been enforced please?

Also, please could you reveal how many (if any) Serious Case
Reviews or Joint Area Reviews have reported with respect to home
educated children in the LA.

Yours faithfully,

Ms Cowne

Dear Ms Cowne,

The response to your FOI is as follows:

Of the 57 children electively home educated the results are:

Not Known to Social Services - 39

Those who have had a Child In Need assessment - 12 (includes contacts
not meeting SC criteria and Early Action)

Those who have been referred to the Child Protection team - 6 (none have
current Child Protection Plans)

Total: 57

None of these cases has resulted in a serious case review.

Kind regards

Sarah
