Education Counsellors Supporting Pupils in Education Infomation

C McEwan made this Freedom of Information request to East Sussex County Council

The request was successful.

From: C McEwan

5 June 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

1. Does your Local Authority presently employ Education
Counsellors* (rather than ‘buying in’ such a service from an
external provider)?

2. If the answer to Question 1 is ‘yes’, please state for each
Education Counsellor employed by the Local Authority:

• Whether they have been deemed to be eligible to join the Teachers
Pension Scheme and

• The date when they joined the Teachers Pension Scheme

• Whether they are employed on Teachers Terms and Conditions of
Employment

3. If your Local Authority does not presently employ Education
Counsellors have they done so in the past?

4. If the answer to Question 3 is ‘yes’, please state for each
School Counsellor employed by the Local Authority since 31 March
2004:

• Whether they were deemed to be eligible to join the Teachers
Pension Scheme and

• When they joined the Teachers Pension Scheme

* Education Counsellors meaning those employed to support pupils in
education

Yours faithfully,

C McEwan

Dear C McEwan,

FOI Request - 2009/244 - Education Counsellors Supporting Pupils in
Education

Thank you for your request for information about education counsellors
supporting pupils in education. Your request was received on 5 June 2009
and I am dealing with it under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act
2000.

We always aim to respond as quickly as possible, and certainly no later
than 3 July 2009, which is the 20 working day deadline. The deadline is
counted from the first working day we receive it, not the date a letter is
written / posted or an email sent.

In some circumstances a fee may be payable and if that is the case, I will
let you know the likely charges before proceeding.

Please quote the above reference number in any communication regarding
this particular request.

Yours sincerely,

Dear C McEwan,

FOI Request ref 2009 / 244 / Education Counsellors Supporting Pupils in
Education

Further to our email of 8 June, I am writing to seek clarification of the
information you requested on 5 June.

You asked for information about Education Counsellors supporting pupils in
education.

East Sussex County Council does not employ Education Counsellors as such,
but does have a range of roles that could be described as providing
support to pupils, from Teaching roles through to Educational Psychology.
However if you could be more specific regarding the nature of the role you
are interested in, we will be able to tailor our response more precisely
to your requirements.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please note that the time for
complying with your request will be put "on hold" until we receive
clarification from you.

Yours sincerely
