Dear Sir or Madam,

1. Does your Local Authority presently employ Education
Counsellors* (rather than ‘buying in’ such a service from an
external provider)?

2. If the answer to Question 1 is ‘yes’, please state for each
Education Counsellor employed by the Local Authority:

• Whether they have been deemed to be eligible to join the Teachers
Pension Scheme and

• The date when they joined the Teachers Pension Scheme

• Whether they are employed on Teachers Terms and Conditions of
Employment

3. If your Local Authority does not presently employ Education
Counsellors have they done so in the past?

4. If the answer to Question 3 is ‘yes’, please state for each
School Counsellor employed by the Local Authority since 31 March
2004:

• Whether they were deemed to be eligible to join the Teachers
Pension Scheme and

• When they joined the Teachers Pension Scheme

* Education Counsellors meaning those employed to support pupils in
education

Yours faithfully,

C McEwan

Re FI 09 196

Further to my acknowledgement of your request, I have received some
information from the Director of Adult and Children's Services. I can
confirm we do hold this information.

You asked:

1. Does your Local Authority presently employ Education
Counsellors* (rather than ***buying in*** such a service from an
external provider)?

YES - the following replies relate to those counsellors employed by the
Local Authority. Some schools are believed to employ their own counsellors
and questions would need to be directed to them in relation to their
conditions of service.

2. If the answer to Question 1 is ***yes***, please state for each
Education Counsellor employed by the Local Authority:

*** Whether they have been deemed to be eligible to join the Teachers
Pension Scheme

They are members of the Local Government Pension Scheme

*** The date when they joined the Teachers Pension Scheme

N/a
*** Whether they are employed on Teachers Terms and Conditions of
Employment

No - they have been employed on local government officers terms.

3. If your Local Authority does not presently employ Education
Counsellors have they done so in the past?

N/a

4. If the answer to Question 3 is ***yes***, please state for each
School Counsellor employed by the Local Authority since 31 March
2004:

*** Whether they were deemed to be eligible to join the Teachers
Pension Scheme and

N/a

*** When they joined the Teachers Pension Scheme

N/a

I hope that this satisfies your request for information. If you are not
satisfied with how your request has been dealt with then you are free to
make a complaint either to the Council or to the Information Commissioner.
You will find details of the complaints procedure on the Council's Website
at
http://www.redcar-cleveland.gov.uk/YrCou...
(alternatively by using the A-Z Index from the home page). The Information
Commissioner is an independent person who has responsibility for
overseeing the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act
2000. More details can be obtained from the Information Commissioner***s
website at [1]www.ico.gov.uk .
