Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to know how many people in the UK have been issued
with a driving licence with matching:

first name
middle name
surname
sex
date of birth

I would also like to know how this would be reflected on their
respective driving licences as I assume they would not be issued
with an identical number?

Please also provide a detailed explanation as to how the 16 digit
driving licence number is generated, including the two digits after
the space?

I would also like to know how many driving licences exist for all
classifications, preferably in electronic format.

Andrew Taylor left an annotation (14 November 2009)

As a third from last character in the driver number other than 9 indicates a driver with the same sex, dob and initials, requesting counts of driver numbers with 8,7,6,5,4,3,2 and 1 as this character may give some indication.

I find it difficult to believe that it would be difficult to collate the requested information for less than £600
