DPA Training or Refresher Course & SAR Request
Ron Blakemore made this Freedom of Information request to Northamptonshire County Council
Waiting for an internal review by Northamptonshire County Council of their handling of this request.
From: Ron Blakemore
21 January 2010
Dear Northamptonshire County Council,
I request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 the number of
Northamptonshire County Council Staff in Social Services who are
trained in regard to the Data Protection Act 1998, have been
trained in the last year and what percentage of the social services
staff does it represent.
I request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 a copy of any
exemption under the Data Protection Act 1998 that allows Legal
Services to retain files that are NOT subject to a statutory
retention period and well passed their recommended destruction
date.
I request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 how many times
Legal Services have failed to produce ALL documentation on a Data
Subject when requested by a member of the public under SARs request
with full permission from the Data Subject. Northamptonshire County
Council are the registered Data Controller under DPA 1998 so a SAR
should apply to all departments
Yours faithfully,
Ron Blakemore

Dear Northamptonshire County Council,
Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of
Information reviews.
I am writing to request an internal review of Northamptonshire
County Council's handling of my FOI request 'DPA Training or
Refresher Course & SAR Request'.
It would seem by your reply to the first question posed that you
have not got a lcue on what staff are trained of not trained in
respect of the DPA 1998. If you don't know what your staff are
trained on then you indeed are a poor poor oganisation. I would be
very surprised if any of your social services staff are trained
based on my own experiences so please answer the question which any
average HR department would able to. Look at the training records
for your staff engaged in social services and stop trying to hide
the truth from the public. Answer the question because you DO hold
the information requested under the Freedom of Information Act
2000.
Your answer to the second question is excellent. To this present
day you are holding such a file that should have been destroyed in
either 1999 or 2003.
The reply to the last question is probably true from your
perpective but in reality I personally can tell you that you done
exactly what I have suggested in the question. The answer is a
least once to my family.
The first question needs answering because you do hold the
information and the public have a right to know. The rest can wait
for court action
