Dear Mr. Figg,
Re: Request for Information
Thank you for your request which we received on the 5^th October 2009.
I can confirm that Eastleigh Borough Council does hold the information
requested.
We have not used Fixed Penalty Notices' at all for the periods specified.
We have taken one (successful) prosecution under the Dogs (Fouling of
Land) Act for failing to clean up faeces this year. We took none in the
previous two years.
A Dog Control Order covering the whole Borough to cover failing to remove
dog faeces is to be introduced in about one months time and is currently
undergoing final consultation. Dog Control Orders covering number 2 to 5
below will not be introduced unless there is a demonstrable need. Such
Orders have not been ruled out but the need will be carefully considered
prior to introduction.
The Council employs two Animal Welfare Officers and has done so throughout
the period specified.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further enquiries
regarding your request.
