Dear Margaret
Thank you for your email. Your request 'cost of entertainments' is very broad and would exceed our cost threshold. The information is not centrally held and would involve contacting over 200 Posts overseas. May I suggest you refine your request to a single post with a timeframe, e.g. 'cost of entertainments at the British Embassy Madrid in 2009'
Yours Sincerely

Dear Margaret
Thank you for your reply. FCO budgets are devolved to posts. To establish the global costs we would need to contact all of our overseas posts for this information. As I have stated previously, this would exceed our cost limit. We can however accept your request re the entertainment budget for Washington. However, before we proceed with this request can you please clarify the time frame, e.g. April 2009 or Jan-June 2009 etc.
Can you please supply your full name when you submit your revised request.
Yours sincerely
