Dear Sir or Madam,
Please can you inform me of your intentions for managing the
provision of digital TV in preparation for analogue switch-off for
the residents of your council-run properties. I would like to know
what process is being used to establish the needs of residents,
costs to residents and services to be provided.

Dear Mr Grade
Thank you for your email received on the 6^th August 2008 requesting
information on Croydon Council's intentions for managing the provision of
digital TV in preparation for analogue switch-off for the residents of
Council-run properties. We have considered your request under the terms of
the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Recognising the need to upgrade the analogue communal TV aerial systems
installed on some of our blocks of flats to meet the targets for digital
switchover as then published by the Government, we commenced replacing
these with an Integrated Reception System in 2001. This system allows for
the reception of digital signals for the `free to air' broadcasts, and
when the analogue signals are finally switched off will require only the
provision of a digital receiver, for example a `freeview' type box, by the
resident for basic `free to air' reception. The work has been completed
but we have no plans to provide such systems to blocks which were not
previously provided with an analogue communal aerial.
If you are unhappy with the way the department has handled your request
under the Freedom of Information Act, you may ask for an internal review.
You can do this by outlining the details of your complaint and either
o e-mailing us at [Croydon Borough Council request email]
o faxing us on 0208 760 5679
o writing to FOI Complaints, London Borough of Croydon, Democratic and
Legal Services, Croydon, CR9 3JS

the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
o Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane,
Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF
