Dear Mr Conner,
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. Please accept our
sincere apologies for the delay in responding.
You specifically requested the following:
Please send us the details of the how much the Bristol City Council has
spent with each of these …
Newspapers:
Bristol Evening Post
Western Daily Press
Bristol Metro
Publications:
Venue Magazine
Whats On Bristol
Bristol Observer
The Bristol Magazine
Radio:
Jack FM 106.5
Bristol Heart 96.3 (formerly known as GWR and Radio West)
BBC Radio Bristol
… sub-totaled from the more recently available going back ten years
please.
Where possible, please separate the amounts based on different
types of advertising: e.g. statutory notices, job advertising, etc.
We are unable to provide you with a breakdown of figures in relation to
radio as we have no mechanism for breaking down these figures, and we
estimate that to do so manually would exceed the 18 hour appropriate time
limit and therefore we are unable to comply in accordance with section 12
of the Freedom of Information Act.
In relation to Bristol Metro, What's on Bristol and The Bristol Magazine,
and in relation to providing costs for other types of advertising, for
example advertising relating to the Colston Hall or the Museums, we are
unable to provide you with the information you require within the
appropriate time limit. If for example the Colston Hall advertised in the
Metro that a performer was due to perform, the advertising may be covered
in part by the performer paying via Colston Hall to place the advert. To
gather this information we would have to identify which adverts were at a
cost to the Council and which were at a cost to the contractor. We
estimate that gathering this information would exceed the 18 hour
appropriate time limit.
I apologise that we are not able to supply you with a breakdown for each
of the categories you have requested. This is because we do not have a
mechanism for breaking down the figures in this way and for the reasons
stated above. As a result, it is estimated that it would take far longer
than the 18 hour appropriate limit to locate all records and compile the
informaiton in the format you request. As a result, we are unable to
comply in accordance with section 12 of the act.
However in order to assist, I have detailed below figures for 2009 and
2010 that detail the spend on advertising statutory notices and
recruitment in the Local Press, owned by Northcliffe Media (of the media
outlets you identified, Northcliffe Media own The Bristol Evening Post,
The Western Daily Press, The Observer and the Venue Magazine.)
NETT
Statutory Notices Spend - Jan - July 2010 £155,835.45
Statutory Notices Spend - Jan - Dec 2009 £222,109.75
Recruitment Spend - Jan - July 2010 £6,359.20
Recruitment Spend - Jan - Dec 2009 £75,741.59
Although these figures are not specifically what you requested, if you
would like these figures for the 2000 - 2008, we can consider this
further.
This response should answer your request in full, however if you are not
satisfied with this response or wish to lodge an appeal against any
exemptions that may have been applied, you can do so by writing to the
Data Protection Officer at Bristol City Council Legal Services, The
Council House, College Green, Bristol, or [1][Bristol City Council request email]. Details
of the complaints procedure can be found at
[2]http://www.bristol.gov.uk/complaints (
[3]http://www.bristol-city.gov.uk/complaints ).
If, after you have exhausted the council’s complaints procedure, you are
still not satisfied with the response you have received you have the right
to complain to the Information Commissioner, details of your right to
complain can be found at [4]http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints.aspxCop...
