Richard Taylor made this Freedom of Information request to Cambridgeshire County Council
Cambridgeshire County Council did not have the information requested.
From: Richard Taylor
14 January 2010
Dear Cambridgeshire County Council,
I would like to request the release of information relating to
upcoming coroners' inquests in Cambridgeshire. For each upcoming
hearing (or scheduled resumption) I would like to know the date,
time, and location of the hearings along with the name of the
deceased and brief details of the circumstances of the death*.
* I am seeking the kind of information which will enable me to
determine if the inquest is of interest to me - for example "Killed
in traffic accident in Cambridge", "Death in Custody" etc.
In the event the County Council are unable to provide me with all
the information I am seeking, I would like to request the release
of any elements they are able to release.
If the County Council are unable to provide the information I am
seeking under the requirements of the FOI act I would like to ask
for advice and assistance in relation to how I can find out about
upcoming coroner's hearings in the county.
Regards,

Dear Mr Taylor,
Thank you for your request regarding Coronor inquests, which has been
dealt with in line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Cambridgeshire County Council does not currently hold this information.
The Coronors hold this information and provide a list of forthcoming
inquests to the Police Press Officer, who usually sends it out to local
media. It's worth noting it is very basic information and the
circumstances of the death cannot be confirmed until after the inquest.
Following this request however, the Coroners have agreed that this
information will also be sent to the Council and published on a new
webpage in the coroner section on our site. This should be up and running
by 1 March 2010. In the meantime for details please contact the Police
via this form: [1]http://www.cambs.police.uk/about/foi/fee....
I hope you find this helpful. If you have any further questions, please do
not hesitate to contact me.
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your
request and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our decision,
you should write to Nicola Graves, Customer Service Manager c/o
Information Governance Team, Box RES1405, Shire Hall, Cambridge CB3 0AP
within 40 days of the date of this letter.
If you are not content with the outcome of your complaint, you may apply
directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the
ICO will not undertake a review or make a decision on a request unless you
have exhausted the complaints procedure provided by the Council. The
Information Commissioner can be contacted at: Information Commissioner's
Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.

Dear Clare Jenner,
On the 1st of February 2010 you wrote to me informing me that the
list of upcoming inquests in Cambridgeshire would be published on
the coroner section of the Cambridgeshire County Council website
from the 1st of March 2010. Your email to me can be viewed online
at:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/de...
Despite it now being many weeks after the 1st of March I am still
unable to find the list linked from the council website's coroner's
page at:
http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/communi...
Could you please either provide me with the link; or if position
has changed let me know why and if there is a new expected
publication date.
