Dear Sir or Madam,
throughout JNCC's history of working with the rspb has the rspb
ever been hired into a position which would have them performing
functions of public administration or were the rspb has had public
responsibilities relating to the environment. If this is the case
can i have any information surrounding the work carried out.
Yours faithfully,

Dear Mr Addison,
I have investigated the request for information you made via our website on 24th October. JNCC has and continues to work with the RSPB in a variety of ways, however, none of the work has entailed placing any pubic responsibilities in the RSPB's hands. Whilst you only asked for information about such work it may be helpful to illustrate the nature of the working relationship between JNCC and the RSPB by providing some specific examples of the type of work that we do together as follows.
RSPB and JNCC are funding partners, along with other non-governmental organisations, on projects to collect, interpret and publish bird data. Examples of such projects are: Wetland Bird Survey; Breeding Bird Survey; Rare Breeding Birds Panel and Seabird Monitoring Programme. Further information about these schemes and their results is available on JNCC's website through the following link http://www.jncc.gov.uk/page-3721.
RSPB has undertaken research under contract to JNCC. Details of such contracts are published by JNCC each year in its Annual Report. A full list of contracts is provided below.

RSPB participates in relevant meetings and workshops of stakeholders organised by JNCC to obtain views and share experience. A recent example of this was the workshop on invasive alien species in UK Overseas Territories (http://www.jncc.gov.uk/page-4081).
JNCC and RSPB also participate in meetings and fora organised by others. An example of this is the UK SPA & Ramsar (Avian) Scientific Working Group which is a consultative group established by Defra. (http://www.jncc.gov.uk/page-1770).
I trust this information is helpful and meets your requirements.
Yours Sincerely
