FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT REQUEST - COMMON PURPOSE GROUP
The Council has now completed its search for the information which
you requested on 15 June 2009 and can confirm that we do not run
such a group and do not have copies of its minutes. Common Purpose
is an independent charity and our Chief Executive, David Petford
has no connection with it.
Could you therefore explain the following documentation

It appears as if the Common Purpose webpage that you attached to your
email is out of date.
Mr Petford used to be a member of the Common Purpose Kent Advisory Group,
but has not been a member of the group for at least 3 years.
The Council does not hold any minutes of the meetings of the Group.
If you are not satisfied with this response you may make a complaint to
the Information Commissioner who can

Clearly, David Petford CEO has had dealings with this Common
Purpose Group, although this was initially denied.
Please state why there are no records pertaining to this group, and
how long records are normally retained by the Council.
Confirm if David Petford has ever been on a Common Purpose training
course?

I do not believe that Mr Petford's involvement with Common Purpose has ever been denied.
The first response stated that he is not a member of the advisory group, and that is true.
I imagine that the records relating to common purpose were destroyed when the council moved offices last year.
I can advise that Mr Petford has attended a common purpose course.

What does the Council consider this to be if not a denial ?
Could it be that there are no records because these meeting were
carried out under Chatham House Rules?
Were all the Council's records of meeting destroyed when the
council moved offices last year?

Mr Petford no longer has any connection with Common Purpose, and so the initial response was correct.
