A Freedom of Information request to Department for Work and Pensions by Daniel Johnston

Waiting for an internal review by Department for Work and Pensions of their handling of this request.

Daniel Johnston

13 February 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

On your website, in December, you announced your intention to
publish individual contract performance statistics for
welfare-to-work programmes across the UK in January. The news item
also stated that you had been gathering this information for
several months in order to reach some level of accuracy. It is now
February and these are not available on your site.

I would be grateful if you could send me these statistics, in
whatever form or state they are currently in, for all UK current
welfare-to-work contracts for which you keep performance data.

One method for retrieving this information would be to look at the
reports that provide overall performance data for Alan Cave's
traffic light reports. Another would be to obtain the regional New
Deal/Programme Centre flightpath reports, overall ESF performance
report, latest Pathways to Work review and other reports and send
them through.

I would expect these statistics, in most cases, to include some
combination of number of starts, leavers, job outcomes, % job
outcomes, sustainment, % sustainment, and the contracted targets
for each of these. Judging by Alan Cave's reports, they would be
likely to stretch from the beginning of the 2008 financial year to
the present.

Furthermore, if you withhold any data for reasons of commercial
confidentiality, I would appreciate detailed reasoning as to why
the sought-after data would damage the DWP's ability to contract
out services.

Yours faithfully,

Daniel Johnston

Dear DWP Adelphi Freedom-of-Information-Request,

I wish to issue a reminder for you to respond to my request of 13th
February for individual performance tables of current provision,
which is now overdue under FoI regulations.

For reference, I am aware that current Pathways to Work performance
data exists in an appropriate form, and has been shared among
providers. This removes the possibility of claiming commercial
confidentiality on it, and I look forward to receiving that table
along with the New Deal / Programme Center Flightpath reports or
their replacement, the performance table for last year's ESF round,
and any other welfare-to-work provision performance tables that can
be secured within the available time limit.

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Johnston

Dear Sir or Madam,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of
Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Work
and Pensions's handling of my FOI request 'current provider
performance statistics'.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is
available on the Internet at this address:
http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/cu...

As this history shows, the DWP are breaking the law by not
responding to my request within the legally required time limit.
The deadline for response on this request was 13th March 2009,
almost three weeks ago. I would appreciate an immediate response
and actual (non-automated) acknowledgement of this request.

Yours sincerely,

Daniel Johnston
