Credit Card Protection

Julie Shrive (Account suspended) made this Freedom of Information request to Office of Fair Trading

Waiting for an internal review by Office of Fair Trading of their handling of this request.

From: Julie Shrive (Account suspended)

Dear Sir or Madam,

Can your Banks Credit Card refuse protection if a quantity of goods
bought on separate days over £150 - some are faulty and when told
to send back return with unsigned letter . They also use 2 separate
addresses.
Because that their on line systems omit necessary information eg:
canvas f arranged flat on screen should have 2 decisions to allow
for wrapping the edge or not as they wrapped a face over the edge .
If you have never done this you would not understand they produce
faulty goods but because both they and Company use a call centre
system organized by accountants for marketing, appear to collude
and allow organized fraud . Their operators because on remits and
do not understand the reasons use operators with English not good
enough to understand and express the nuances so cause fraudulent
gain through bias and negligence .
They also take over 3 months or never sort out what Trading
Standards years ago could sort out in 5 min, by knowing their patch
and ability to understand truth is not always recorded.

Yours faithfully,

Julie Shrive

Dear Julie Shrive

Thank you for your recent e-mail.

I am sorry to hear of your problem but unfortunately the Office of Fair
Trading (OFT) is unable to help you on this occasion, as we do not have
the power to advise or assist individual consumers. Nor can we normally
comment or take action on cases brought to us by individual consumers. Our
primary duties are to enforce competition law, regulate the consumer
credit market through a licensing system and the co-ordination of
enforcement action throughout the UK, with the assistance of our other
regulatory partners.

Under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (`The Act'), most businesses that offer
goods or services on credit or lend money to consumers, have to be
licensed by the OFT. The OFT can refuse or revoke the firm's credit
licence if it engages in `unfair or improper business practices, whether
unlawful or not'.

You may wish to consider contacting the Financial Services Authority (FSA)
via [1]http://www.fsa.gov.uk. The FSA is an independent body established
to regulate and produce guidance material on financial services and
investment business. For more information on Payment Protection please
see:
http://www.moneymadeclear.fsa.gov.uk/new...

For help and advice concerning your individual case, you may also wish to
consider contacting The Financial Ombudsman Service via
[2]http://www/fos.org.uk .They provide consumers with a free, independent
service for resolving disputes with financial firms.

I hope this information proves helpful.

Yours sincerely,

Mariam Sharif

Dear Sir or Madam,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of
Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Office of Fair
Trading's handling of my FOI request 'Credit Card Protection'.As
well as this with Lancashire County Council as my council Islington
refused to adress it as part of my official complaint 2001 Perhaps
you can adress the above matter as I feel Pendle are defrauding

Dear Freedom of Information,

Since 1997 I have been trying to address Trading Standards issues
to find like everywhere else nobody is monitoring or resolving
anything because they have the same corporate set ups- enquiry
lines .Problems are getting worse as there is no resolution
particularly for the elderly and disabled . The processes are long
winded to defraud. There appears to be nobody with responsibility
for seeing people are treated fairly as will only deal with
groups.So request internal review .

Yours sincerely,

Julie Shrive
