Covert Surveillance
James Murray made this Freedom of Information request to Lincolnshire Police
Waiting for an internal review by Lincolnshire Police of their handling of this request.
From: James Murray
13 August 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
An unmarked vehicle operated in Tealby in June 2008 manned by a
Lincs Police WPC named Parker allegedly gathering ASB'evidence'
against an innocent pensioner.
How many cases of covert surveillance have been carried out by your
force both authorised and unauthorised by RIP Act.
How many cases of private telephone monitoring have taken place and
how many cases of email monitoring ?
What items of surveillance equipment are held by yr force and what
'procedures' are in place before use is authorised.
May I remind you thar my last reasonable request was made some
seven months ago and still there have been no satisfactory answers
Yours faithfully,
James Murray

Dear Knowles, Colin,
I am sending this from abroad and have little time to deal with
your fatuous response except to say that
to suggest this is a matter of public security is frankly
ridiculous. You have now come to the end of your excuses - kindly
let us now have the truth
Yours sincerely,
James Murray

Dear Knowles, Colin,
Your latest attempt at evading the issue is unacceptable:
the information requested is certainly in the public interest...how
you can deny this is incomprehensible.
To suggest that to divulge the information requested would in some
way be contrary to 'national security' is nothing short of
insane. What the incompetent and stupidly mismanaged attempts to
place an innocent Lincolnshire pensioner under covert surveillance
have to do with 'national security' is of mind bogglingly
crassness.
The 'table' you referred to in your reply is indecipherable. Please
retransmit this so that it can be read.
Kindly now supply the information reasonable asked for in my
initial request
Yours sincerely,
James Murray

Dear Knowles, Colin,
It is noted that once again you are in breach of the law in that a
reply to my request for information under FOI due on 11th September
2009 was overdue a response. You are reminded that the 'table
MO1251' is indecipherable and hence any information contained in it
cannot be accessed.
Little wonder that your Force is in such disrepute
being t he worst in the country in terms of 'customer satisfaction'
and complaints made.
Yours sincerely,
James Murray

Dear Knowles, Colin,
My reasonable request for information was originally made some nine
months ago. It has been treated with unacceptable delay, evasion
and obfuscation.
I am unable to dictate to WhatDo They Know the formats they use.
My postal address is on your records.
Again it has to be noted that it is little wonder that, sadly but
understandably, your force by its own admission is the worst in the
country in terms of 'customer satisfaction' claimed to be your
priority. Recent national news confirms that your force is also the
worst in the country in terms of complaints received from the
public. When is this situation going to alter ?
You are again requested to supply the information requested.
Yours sincerely,
James Murray

Dear Knowles, Colin,
A response to my information request is long overdue and
consequently you are again in breach of the law.
Kindly now supply the information requested.
I am also requesting an internal review.
THese inordinate delays evasion and obfuscation are unacceptable
and reflect very badly on your already failed force.
