Could you please release details of the expenses and allowances
claimed by each councillor for the 2008-9 Municipal Year (May 2008
to April 2009).
I would like details of any additional benefits such as free
parking in the city's car parks to be included.
I would like to suggest that this information ought be published on
the city council's website as soon as practical following the year
end.

Dear Mr Taylor, I am not obliged to provide this information under
section 22 of the FOIA (information intended for future publication), as
it is published on our website. There was a slight delay in publication
this year, but this something Council's will publish annually after the
end of the financial year in a local newspaper and most are also doing
so on the website.

However, I will get back to you within 20 working days on the query of
'additional benefits'.
Regards

Dear Sir
I enclose a response to your request under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000. If you are not happy with the way in which your request has
been dealt with please contact me. You may also contact the Information
Commissioner if you are still not happy with the way your request has

City Councillor Allowances for 2008/09 are on the website go to the
foot of the Councillors page (weblink below). We were a little late in
publishing this year and you are right that the aim is to publish as
soon as practicable after the end of the Municipal Year in May.
As far as car parking is concerned, of 42 members of the Council, 22
have a car park pass. The pass relates to one car park only (ie not all
councillors will have a pass for Grand Arcade). The use of these passes
is monitored as they are issued on the understanding that its usage is
for city council business. All councillors are able to get free drinks
from the hot drinks machine on the first floor of the Guildhall (tea,
coffee, hot chocolate).

Dear Gary Clift,
Many thanks for your message letting me know that twenty two
councillors have a car park pass.
Can you able to tell me which councillors have passes, and let me
know how often they used then in 2008-9? You refer to monitoring of
usage, so it sounds to me as if this data is available.
I believe this within the scope of my original request, in which I
asked for information with respect to "each councillor".
Yours sincerely,

Good Morning Mr Taylor,
Thank you for your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000,
which has been forwarded onto Parking Services to respond to as we cover
the administration of car park passes.
I have attached a spreadsheet covering the usage of each Councillor's
permit. Unfortunately, as we had new equipment installed into our Queen
Anne Terrace and Park Street car parks in December 2008, I am only able
to provide data from this date for some of the permits. I have provided
the information up until (09/06/09). The data for the Grand Arcade
permits is from May 2008 to April 2009, as requested.
If you have any queries then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Vicky Pope
