Dear Customer Relations,
A typical response from you. You were perfectly happy to give out
the numbers of PTW riders who had registered for pay by phone. In
fact you used those figures to falsely claim what a wonderful
success your stealth tax was in a cheap PR stunt. Yet you refuse to
tell us the public the number of councillors who have registered
for pay by phone. Quite how you think this would be an invasion of
their privacy is quite baffling.
I must assume that none of them have bothered to register, why
should they when they enjoy a free parking permit. Who in their
right mind would want to sign up to the dreadful insecure pay by
phone system that you have forced on the public.
Shame on you for trotting out the old Data Protection excuse.
Yours sincerely,
Lucy Adams

I am appalled by the councils answer, though not surprised.
When I wrote to many of the councilors in this FOI question (Chalkley, Burbridge , Floru, A Harvey ) to ask why they had awarded themselves a free parking permit, not one of them had the decency to even reply. Even Cllr Barrow who said he wants all councillors to treat the public like they would like to be treated was so ignorant that he did not even reply to me.
So it's no wonder these so called public servants are willing to hide the truth from us and so often break the law themselves.
Shame on you Westminster City Council.

Dear FOI team,
You have refused my request to know the number of councillors on my
list that have subscribed to the councils pay by phone parking
regime.
Part of being a councillor involves disclosing your residential
address. How much income is derived from the tax payer. Discloser
of other business interests. Amount of any gifts received whilst
being a councillor etc.. This is all part of being a councillor and
is subject to a choice made by the individual on deciding whether
or not to enter public life.
You state that “Councillors and their families have a right to
expect that data held about their private lives will not be
disclosed into the public domain“
My questions are,
1. What personal information is being asked of councillors?
2. What personal information is being asked of the councillors
families?
3.What specific part of the data protection are you referring to in
your reply if you are indeed referring to the act?
I would also point out that you did answer a very similar non
invasive FOI request 13326 “Which Councillors actually live in
Westminster as residents?”
So the reason I am requesting you to review your decision not to
answer my question, is that no personal data could be conveyed by
the answer?
Yours sincerely,
Lucy Adams

Dear FOI,
So all we really know is that most of Westminsters' Conservative
councillors have voted themselves to have city wide free car
parking permits, yet there is no method to establish that they have
also paid to park when they are off duty. There is also no way of
knowing whether any of these councillors who believe they deserve
free car parking have ever had to use the pay by phone system they
are so eager to impose on the public.
How typical that you have a whole host of checks and officers to
check up on your residents, to verify they are worthy of a paid for
residents parking permit, yet seem to have no checks for the
councillors.
I think this really is all the information anyone reading this
needs to know about their local councillors, thank you for your
informative reply.
Yours sincerely,
Lucy Adams

What possible personal data could be conveyed by that answer?
Come on Westminster, this isn't playing the game, you are deliberately trying to fudge the issue. The point of FOI requests is to provide open information because Westminster is a publicly accountable organisation.
Shame on you.
