Dear Sir or Madam,
Dear Sir or Madam,
Could you provide the figures for what percentage of houses within
the Burnley Council do not pay full Council Tax?. Then further
break it down to particular areas, including the amount that pay 0%
and are of working age?
Could this then be broken down into the
wards/boroughs/areas(however burnley is divided up)of Burnley.
Yours faithfully,
Paul

Mr Ingham,
I refer to your email of 17th June 2008 regarding Council Tax in Burnley:
* 4% of properties in Burnley are exempt from paying Council Tax
* 42% of properties in Burnley receive a discount from Council Tax
as less than 2 adult residents occupy the property for Council Tax
purposes
* 26% of properties in Burnley receive Council Tax Benefit - 55% of
these are of working age.
Please note - some properties will fall into more than one of the
categories above.
* 22% of properties in Burnley pay no Council Tax
We do not hold dates of birth for Council Tax payers, so I am unable to
say how many of the above are of working age.
The information that is held is not held in accordance with electoral
wards or with areas of the borough, so I am unable to provide such a
breakdown.

Peter Haywood
