Dear Mr Canning
The above request is exempt from the Freedom of Information Act and we
have handled this under the Environmental Information Regulations. You
request the names of falcons, with their Latin names that needed to be
registered in 1982 to 1993.
The original Schedule 4 of the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981 included
all birds contained within the Family Falconidae; thus any bird in that
category would have required to be registered. We do not have a list of
scientific (Latin) names of all members of the Family Falconidae that
would have required registration from 1982 to 1993 nor, for such a higher
taxon listing, would one be necessary.

Dear Mr Canning,
Ref 09/10_16
The internal review of the handling of your request for information about
Bird Registration charges has been completed.
The review was conducted by the Biodiversity Research Manager who is
unconnected with either JNCC's Business Unit or Global Advice Team which
were directly involved in handling your request.
The conclusions of the reviewer were as follows:
. The request was correctly handled under the Environmental
Information Regulations although it was made under the Freedom of
Information Act.
. The response was made 1 day later than the required response
time.
. A thorough search for the information requested was undertaken
and you were correctly advised that JNCC does not hold the information.
However in our response to you we should have:
o stated that this clearly as an exemption under the Environmental
Information regulations;
o provided further advice as to where you might be able to find such
information.
Accordingly we:
. advise you that the information falls under the exception under
regulation 12 (4) (a) of the Environmental Information Act - The public
authority does not hold the information when an applicant's request is
received. This situation has not changed since our response to your
request.
. advise you that the Wildlife Licensing and Registration Service
(WLRS) may hold this information
([1]http://www.defra.gov.uk/animalhealth/cit...);
. Apologise for omitting this information from our correspondence
with you and for the short delay in providing you with a response.
I hope this information is helpful. However, if you are still not content
with the handling of your request you may write to the:
Information Commissioner's Office

Yours Sincerely
