COSTS OF MOTORCYCLE PARKING BAYS

CHARLIE LORT-PHILLIPS made this Freedom of Information request to Westminster City Council

The request was partially successful.

From: CHARLIE LORT-PHILLIPS

6 July 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

On your website
(http://www.westminster.gov.uk/services/t...)
you state that the cost of 'survey work and the extension of on
street parking places' was £224,438.

What proportion of money was spent on the surveying, and what
proportion was spent on the manufacturing of the bays? Following on
from that, what proportion of the money spent on the bays was spent
on the signs and other notices required to alert riders to the
charge? How many individual places were created as a result of this
expenditure?

On the same site, you state that £6,714 was spent on off street
bays. How many individual spaces were created as a direct result of
this expenditure?

On the same site, you state that £13,600 was spent on
communications. What areas does the communications budget cover,
and what activities were involved in the spending of this £13,600?

Yours faithfully,

CHARLES LORT-PHILLIPS

Dear MotorCycleParking,

In light of the response, where is the remaining money to bring up
the total of £224,438? The total on the excel sheet is only just
under £160,000. This represents a vast disparity of £84,000.

In addition, what were the activities involved in the bay surveys,
which came to over £38,000 and what were the results?

I also ask again what activities were involved in the
communications costs, as this has not been specified.

Yours sincerely,

CHARLIE LORT-PHILLIPS

Dear MotorCycleParking,

Flabbergasted. That is all I can say. Your answer to my question is
"1".

This is not the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, even if it was you
would be wrong as that answer is 42. This is Freedom of
Information.

I think it is fair to say I am not satisfied with this response,
and given that the figures were so WILDLY out in the first place I
am left with no alternative but to request an internal review.

Yours sincerely,

CHARLIE LORT-PHILLIPS

Dear MotorCycleParking,

It would seem that the expense accounts have not been attached as
stated in your message.

I therefore repeat my request for an internal review into the
shambolic handling of what should be a simple question and answer.

Yours sincerely,
