Costs of Gala Dinner and drinks reception at NPIA conference
William Old made this Freedom of Information request to National Policing Improvement Agency
The request was successful.
From: William Old
2 March 2009
Dear Sir or Madam,
On 24-25 March 2009, a Police Workforce Development Conference will
be held at the Queen's Hotel, Leeds. Attendance at this event is
advertised as being free. However, the agenda shows that on the
evening of 24 March, a drinks reception and Gala Dinner will be
held for all delegates.
1 - What are the (a) hospitality costs and (b) other
non-hospitality conference costs for this event?
2 - To what extent are (a) and (b) being met by the Conference
sponsors, believed to be Microsoft, BT, and G4S?
3 - What policies or agreements deal with whether or not this
sponsorship will affect the sponsors' qualifications (positively or
negatively) for bidding for any of the commercial opportunities
arising out of Police Workforce "Development" (previously,
"Modernisation")?
4 - What instructions or advice will be given by the NPIA to public
sector attendees about their responsibilities in respect of
recording the receipt of such hospitality from private sector
sponsors, whether or not the latter are successful in bidding for
subsequent contracts?
Yours faithfully,
William Old
