Costs for the marking of double yellow lines at Wildmere Industrial Estate Banbury

Andrew Jeffrey made this Freedom of Information request to Oxfordshire County Council

The request was partially successful.

From: Andrew Jeffrey

6 October 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

In 2008 Oxfordshire County Council laid down double yellow lines to
prohibit vehicular parking on all roads surrounding Wildmere
Industrial Estate in Banbury. Please advise what the total cost of
this exercise was (including the landscaping of the area adjacent
to Acorn Way/Wildmere Road junction) to the Council Tax Payer and
please advise what percentage of this outlay has since been
recovered, in terms of fines, from Heavy Goods Vehicle drivers
ignoring these road markings.

Yours faithfully,

Andrew Jeffrey

Dear Mr Jeffrey

Thank you for your request of 6 October 2009 in which you asked for the
following information:

Industrial Estate in Banbury. Please advise what the total cost of

ignoring these road markings.

The cost of these lines was £3,633.53. In addition, public notices in
the Banbury Guardian have cost £387.26 and £276.12 and Legal charges, to
date, are £687.24.

There was no landscaping carried out as part of this scheme; it was simply
a waiting restriction scheme involving lining work. Some tidying up work
replacing barriers at the junction of Wildmere Road and Daventry Road was
carried out but this was not connected in any way with the Traffic Order
you are enquiring about. If you would like more information on this
aspect, please let me know.

In relation to fines of Heavy Goods Vehicle drivers ignoring these road
markings, this is the responsibility of Thames Valley Police and I would
suggest you contact them if you would like information in this respect.
