Kevin Osborne made this Freedom of Information request to Sheffield City Council

The request was successful.

From: Kevin Osborne

26 August 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of
Information Act (2000)

What was the total cost incurred by Sheffield City Council related
to the recent concert held by the rock group U2 at Don Valley
Stadium.

I'd like this cost to be broken down by council department and if
at all possible a narrative explanation.

Yours faithfully,

Kevin Osborne

Dear Lonnia Stephen (CEX),

I'm after the total cost incurred by the council in relation to
this event, not just the cost of a licence. Examples would be
clearing up litter, changes to road signs, traffic managemnet. etc
etc.

Yours sincerely,

Kevin Osborne

Hi Kevin,

I apologise for the delay in responding, however it has taken some time to work out the full costs to be recovered by the different services. First of all I will set out the costs of licensing the event that will all be fully recovered through the Licence Fee.

Licensing - £4,712:59
Building Standards - £3,967:40
Health & Safety - £2,880:00
Noise Nuisance - £420:00
Food Safety - £600:00

The traffic management work is undertaken in partnership, however extra signs, coning, barriers etc. are all paid for by the event organiser and the work is undertaken by a Private Contractor.

It is very similar with litter, although the Council undertake their normal duties the Stadium (Don Valley) employ their own staff to clear up in and around the stadium.

Hope that this answers your query satisfactorily.

Regards
Steve
