Dear Sandwell Borough Council,

I am writing to make an open government request for all the
information to which I am entitled under the Freedom of Information
Act. In order to assist you with this request, I am outlining my
query as specifically as possible. If however this request is too
wide or too unclear, I would be grateful if you could contact me as
I understand that under the act, you are required to advise and
assist requesters

Please advise the total cost (for the finanical year 2009/10) of
the costs associated with runnign the Legal Services Departments.
Within this figure advise the total spend on outsourcing legal work
to private companies.

Act and now supply the details requested.

For the financial year 2009/2010 the cost of the legal service provision
for the Council was £5,009,000.

This figure includes an amount of £2,115,241 for legal work outsourced to
private companies/barristers etc.

Dear Stewart Snape,

Many thanks for the information - as a supplement can you advise me
of the money that was used to fund the legal service how much of
the income was funded from internal departments within SMBC and how
much was effectively work undertaken by the Authority and recharged
back top an external provider/customer/individual.
