Cost of dealing with planning application, Lydd Airport

Dear Shepway District Council,

I refer to the recent decision by Councillors to ignore the
recommendations of their professional planning staff and approve
the planning application for the extended runway and new terminal
building for Lydd Airport.

I am aware that a planning application of this nature would be
outside the remit of a normal district council's planning
department. I would therefore like to know the TOTAL additional
costs incurred by Shepway in terms of consultants, other bought in
services and additional staff employed.

Thank you very much for providing the information requested. I will
now be considering how to proceed with a complaint against those
councillors who chose to ignore the professional advice bought in
at the taxpayers expense. I think the Audit Commission will be very
interested in this matter.
