Dear Sir or Madam,
Can you please detail, for each year since your public website was
launched, how much money has been spent on creating, developing,
and running it.
Where possible, please break these costs out by function (for
example, development, design, updates, changes, hosting,
co-location, domain registration, licensing etc). Where the costs
have been incurred with external providers, please list the company
in question. For internal staff time, if this is not recorded
and/or charged explicitly, please provide estimates based on
salary/overheads of people involved.
Yours faithfully,
Nick

Autumn 1999 - Jonathan Carson employed as member of IT staff with responsibility for designing and developing website. I would imagine a fair estimate would be that he spent 50% of his time on web work until publication summer 2000. So probably the following would be fairly accurate.
Costs 1999 - 50% J Carson's salary
2000 - 50% J Carson's salary
I would then imagine that after 2000 that probably about 25% of his time was "web" work
2001 - 25% J Carson's salary
2002 - 25% J Carson's salary
2003 - 25% J Carson's salary
In 2003 two posts were amalgamated and ultimately J Carson left the organization with me taking up the post (D Hughes). I still have a responsibility for the web site but the previous IT Manager took over this responsibility.
I would imagine that the following would be accurate
2004 - 5% D Hughes' salary, 10% F Levi's salary.
2005 - 10% F Levi's salary
2006 - 20% F Levi's salary
2007 - 25% F Levi's salary
Since arrival of new IT Manager, I have again taken responsibility for the site and would imagine that at present that about 25% of my time is taken up with development of the new site but this has not been all year so I would guess that so far in 2008 the costs would be about 10% of my salary.
This is far from being accurate as we do not do time keeping recording.

Dear Shernelle,
Thank you for these figures. It is unclear whether these are the
total costs for the year, or just for the staff time. In either
case can you please also break out the other costs incurred.
Yours sincerely,
Nick
