Dear Sir or Madam,
Can you please detail, for each year since your public website was
launched, how much money has been spent on creating, developing,
and running it.
Where possible, please break these costs out by function (for
example, development, design, updates, changes, hosting,
co-location, domain registration, licensing etc). Where the costs
have been incurred with external providers, please list the company
in question. For internal staff time, if this is not recorded
and/or charged explicitly, please provide estimates based on
salary/overheads of people involved.
Yours faithfully,
Nick

I refer to your request for information.
I would again apologise for the delay in providing this information.
We relaunched our site in 2005 and I attach spread sheet showing breakdown of costs.
The site was designed and is hosted by

A number of staff within each department have been trained as authors to make changes to areas of the website that they would be responsible for. The Public Relations Officer is the editor and webmaster of the site. When someone makes changes to a page etc it automatically comes to the editor who checks the pages before putting live on site.
We do not keep records of how long is spent updating the site.
If I had to make an estimate I would say that collectively authors would spend no more than 1hour a week making changes to the site.
The editor adds press releases, changes pods on home page, adds events, updates blog and approves changes by authors. I would estimate that editor spends 1 hour per week on this.
Staff that are trained are clerical staff on a variety of scales estimate scale 5 £18907 to £20736 per annum working a 37 hour week ie approximate cost to update site on weekly basis £20.
I hope this answers your request for information.
