Dear Mr Mills
Thank you for your email of 15 October asking, under the Freedom of
Information Act, for Prescription Pricing Authority's figures for the
number and value of FP10 prescriptions in each Acute Trust this year and
for previous years.
I am sorry to advise you that this information is not held by the
Department of Health. However, subject to the caveat below, it may be
that the Prescription Pricing Division of the NHS Business Services
Authority (NHSBSA), which is a public authority in its own right for
Freedom of Information Act purposes, will be able to help you. The
NHSBSA's web address is: [1]www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk .
It may be helpful if I point out that a large proportion of the medicines
dispensed in hospitals (including medicines for out patients and "day
care" patients) are not dispensed against an FP10 form; consequently there
may be little or no data for some Acute Trusts.
I hope that this is helpful. If you have any queries about this letter,
please contact me. Please remember to quote the reference number above in
any future communications.
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your
request and wish to make a complaint or request a review of our decision,
you should write to:

If you are not content with the outcome of your complaint, you may apply
directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the
ICO cannot make a decision unless you have exhausted the complaints
procedure provided by the Department. The Information Commissioner can be
contacted at:
The Information Commissioner's Office
