7 November 2008
Dear Sir or Madam,
I refer to a letter dated 31 July 2007, sent from the Prime
Minister's office in response to our petition on the subject of the
2004 Re-opened Formal Investigation into the sinking of the FV
Gaul.
I was very happy to read in that letter about how the views that I
had expressed "have been carefully noted" by the Prime Minister,
and how the Prime Minister would have the Department for Transport
address the matters raised in my petition.
Since then, I have been very unhappy to notice that the Department
for Transport as well as the other relevant authorities, which
would normally be required to address such matters, have shrunk,
without exception, from doing so.
I would therefore be grateful if you could kindly release any
information and/or copies that you may hold on any communications
(instructions, advice etc.) between the Prime Minister's Office and
the Department for Transport, the Home Office, the Attorney
General's Office, the Treasury Solicitor's Department, the Foreign
Office, the Rt Hon John Prescott MP and any other government bodies
or political entities on the subject of the FV Gaul RFI and on how
to deal with its aftermath.
I would like to thank you in advance for your kind consideration of
this request.
Yours faithfully,
Daniela Drysdale
