Dear Bristol City Council,
I am asking these questions under the FOI act.
1, What is the name of your contracting kennels for stray dogs?
2, How long have you used these kennels?
3, Were these kennels inspected before being given the contract?
and if not
4, How do you know that they have adequate standards of care under
the 'Animal Welfare act'?
Yours faithfully,
Carla Bottle

Carla. Please find the information detailed below concerning kennels for
stray dogs which you requested:
1. Our contracting kennels are Bristol Dogs and Cats Home.
2. We cannot give an exact time frame, but believe that we have used
them for over 20 years.
3. The kennels are formally inspected by the RSPCA annually. Our Dog
Wardens are authorised to carry out Licence visits for Bristol City
Council under The Animal Boarding Establishment Act 1963 and visit BDH
every working day. Any issues would be directed to BDH management and
BCC Dog Warden Service Management.
4. Bristol Dogs Home is unique in that it is situated directly next to
an RSPCA Veterinary Clinic, whose vets oversee treatment to all BDH
animals. Between Bristol City Council and the RSPCA there have never
been any problems with animal welfare standards at Bristol Dogs and Cats
Home.
