Kent County Council

3 March 2009

Dear Mr Braithwaite,

Thank you for your request for information regarding contract tenders
relating to Kent on Canvas (copied below), to which I am now able to
provide the following response from Kent Libraries & Archives.

Kent on Canvas is currently a one year pilot. Should this be successful, a
revised specification for the service will be drawn up on the basis of our
experience of the pilot and this will go out to tender.

Accordingly, information concerning the current contracts is withheld
under Section 43 of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) on the basis
that disclosure would prejudice the commercial interests of Kent County
Council (KCC).

Before deciding to withhold information under S.43 FOIA, KCC must consider
where the public interest lies. In this particular case it is felt that,
at this point in time, the greater public interest lies in safeguarding
the potential for income generation by KCC from this project, which can
only be beneficial to the community in terms of supporting the
services provided by KCC.

If you are unhappy with this response, please follow our complaints
process; details can be found at this link

on our website. Please quote reference FOI/09/130.

Yours sincerely,
