Continuing Health Care Enquiry
Elaine Maul made this Freedom of Information request to Enfield Primary Care Trust (PCT)
The request was partially successful.

Dear Enfield Primary Care Trust (PCT),
My enquiry is in two parts.
My first query is regarding the care received by people who qualify
for Continuing Health Care. Can you give me a list naming all the
Care Homes and other facilities where they are receiving their
care?
My second query concerns the Care facilities run by the Enfield PCT
itself at Chase Farm hospital. Other 'ordinary' care homes have
inspections carried out by the Care Quality Commission. Are such
inspections carried out on the units at Chase Farm ie Silver
Birches, The Oaks and Cornwall Villas? If they are, can you provide
me with copies of the most recent inspections for these three
facilities.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully,
Elaine Maul

Dear Peacock Donald,
Thank you for your reply. I apologise for not responding earlier
but some of your answers confused me and I have been checking a few
things first before replying.
Firstly, thank you very much for the list of care providers. That
was exactly what I needed.
Your response to my questions about the facilities being run at
Chase Farm hospital initially confused me! However, I now realise
that, as you have stated, these facilities are run by the Barnet
Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust and not directly by
yourself. However, after discussion with the local Alzheimer's
society, they believe that the Enfield PCT are providing the
funding for the facilities specifically at Silver Birches as, at
this moment, all the patients there come from the Enfield area. Can
you comment on this please?
Perhaps the funding you are providing is not under the 'umbrella'
of Continuing Health Care? If it is not, under what mechanism are
you providing the funding?
If you ARE funding the facilities there, do you receive periodic
reports to enable you to determine whether you are receiving 'value
for money'? Or information to enable you to decide whether the
charges you are paying are adequate or appropriate? Or that the
facilites being provided meet an acceptable standard? I am
interested in obtaining copies of any such documentation for the
last two years. I am assuming you must receive some monitoring
paperwork if you are paying for a service in these facilities on
behalf of people in Enfield?
Thank you for your help.
Yours sincerely,
Elaine Maul
