Dear Mr Canning

Environmental Information Regulations 2004 - Invitation to narrow down or
clarify request -091049

Thank you for your request of 8^th March 2010 which falls under the
Environmental Information Regulations 2004 and your subsequent email dated
9^th April 2010.

The amount of information you have requested is very substantial and
gathering it together would therefore be likely to involve a significant
cost and diversion of resources from our other work. This could mean that
we may have to refuse the request under the exceptions in the
Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (Regulations 12(4)(b) and (c))
covering requests that are manifestly unreasonable or formulated in too
general a manner.

The best way that we can help you is therefore to ask you to consider
whether you could narrow down your request to focus on the precise
information that you are seeking. You could, for example:

Ø be more specific about the time period covered by your request for
correspondence;

Ø explain a bit more about the kind of information you are looking for;

If you are unable or unwilling to narrow down your request we will, of
course, consider it in accordance with our obligations under the
Environmental Information Regulations 2004. However, we wanted to give you
an opportunity to reconsider your request and describe more precisely the
information you wish to have.

Please let me know how you would like us to proceed.

Yours sincerely

<<MD performance agreement - March 2010.docx>> Dear Mr Canning

Unfortunately this would not narrow down our search as EEC Regulation 3626 was passed in 1984. Any other help you could provide would be gratefully received.

14 April 2010

Dear Mr Canning

Thank you for your replies to our emails dated 12^th April 2010.

Unfortunately, in this case, neither of the suggestions you have made to
narrow down your request:

. Information that relates to peregrine falcons up to May 1995

. Consultation with stakeholders in relation to peregrine falcons
up to 1995

would lessen the cost and diversion of resources from our other work.
Therefore we have decided to refuse the request under the exceptions in
the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 covering requests that are
manifestly unreasonable or formulated in too general a manner (Regulation
12(4)(b) and (c)).

Thank you for your request for information regarding ‘Consultation with
stakeholders’ which we received on 19 April 2010. Your request has been
considered under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.

holds in relation to EC regulation 3626/82 for the year prior to it coming
into force in the UK that are directly, or indirectly, related to birds of
prey and peregrine falcons.
