Our ref: DE00000512676 - Fw: Freedom of Information request - Connection
between anti psychotic drugs and pulmonary embolism

Dear Mr/Ms Sowerby,

Thank you for your email of 14 June to the Department of Health about a
connection between anti-psychotic drugs and pulmonary embolism. I have
been asked to reply.

I would advise you to direct your query to the Medicines and Healthcare
products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), which is the Government agency
responsible for ensuring the safety of medicines and medical devices. It
is best placed to comment on the link between pulmonary embolism and
anti-psychotic drugs, and whether mellaril is considered safe or has been
withdrawn from the market, which would affect doctors' ability to
prescribe it. The contact details are as follows:

MHRA
10-2 Market Towers
1 Nine Elms Lane
London
SW8 5NQ

Tel: 020 7084 2000 (weekdays 0900 -1700); 020 7210 3000 (other times)
Email: [1][email address]

I hope this reply is helpful.

Yours sincerely,

Jonathan Dixon
