Concessionary travel passes

Robert Eriksohn made this Freedom of Information request to Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council

The request was successful.

From: Robert Eriksohn

30 January 2009

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to make a request as regards to the concessionary
travel arrangements in your authority under the terms of Freedom of
Information Act.

1. Does your authority provide concessionary travel passes to those
individuals registered with their local Social Services department
as disabled on the grounds of being a mental health user or
survivor?

2. If your authority does have such arrangements why was the
decision taken to extend the scheme in this way and what
arrangements are in place?

3. If your authority does not have such arrangements does your
authority have some other arrangement beyond the statuary minimum
to provide passes to those with mental health issues?

4. If your authority does not have such arrangements why was the
decision taken not to extend the scheme in this way and has
consideration been given to extending the scheme in this way in the
future?

5. Would it be possible to provide copies of any relevant policy
documents you may have?

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Yours faithfully,

Robert Eriksohn

Dear Mr Eriksohn

Thank you for your attached request. I can advise you of the following
answers to your five questions:

1. We do not specifically issue concessionary bus passes to individuals
with mental health problems. However, concessionary passes are issued to
individuals who are affected by any of the categories A to G on the
application form. Please follow this link for a copy of the form:

[1]http://www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/pdf/-%20A...

2. Not applicable, see answer to question 1.

3. No.

4. The Borough Council is a member of the Norfolk Concessionary Fares
Scheme. For any changes to be made, all members would need to agree to
make these changes. To date, no discussions have taken place to
specifically extend the scheme to individuals with mental health problems.

5. Not applicable, see answer to question 4.

I trust this answers your questions, but if you have any further queries,
please do not hesitate to contact us.

Yours sincerely

Richard Mann
