Complaints initiated by a council.

A Johnson made this Freedom of Information request to Local Government Ombudsmen

The request was successful.

From: A Johnson

30 January 2010

Dear Local Government Ombudsmen,

During the reporting year 2008/9 how many councils asked the York
based LGO to get involved in a complaint before the York based LGO
received a formal complaint from a member of the public. If the
answer is not zero please identify the council/s concerned.

Yours faithfully,

A Johnson

Mrs Pook on behalf of the LGO states...

"In your email of 30 January, you asked how many councils asked the York based Ombudsman to get involved in a complaint before she had received a formal complaint from a member of the public, in the year 2008/09, and for any such councils to be identified.

The answer is none, so there are no councils to identify."

As with many other responses to FOI requests by the LGO their answer does not reflect the true situation.

This response may come back to haunt the LGO because I have been contacted by someone who has evidence that the York LGO did get involved in a complaint at the request of a council and in advance of a complaint being submitted by the complainant.
