Complaints about a Website
John Cross made this Freedom of Information request to Information Commissioner’s Office
Information Commissioner’s Office did not have the information requested.
From: John Cross
11 July 2011
Dear Information Commissioner’s Office,
I am writing to request information under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000.
Please can you provide me with copies of any correspondence,
documents or other information relating to complaints or enquiries
about the website rtaylor.co.uk (a website controlled by Richard
Taylor of Cambridge).
In general, you may well treat such enquiries or complaints in
relation to personal websites as being exempt from disclosure,
however in this specific case there are two important facts which
in my view increase the public interest in favour of supplying the
information:
1. A twitter user has stated publicly that that they went to the
ICO:
"even wnt 2 IOC for another very distressed woman.Could do nothing
as domestic website even if looks like prof.So not
simple."http://twitter.com/#!/ClareBlair/status/...
[it was later clarified that the twitter user meant the ICO
(Information Commissioner's Office)]
http://twitter.com/#!/ClareBlair/status/...
If this comment is true then the fact the complainant has made the
comment in public suggests that the full details ought to be made
public.
2. Richard Taylor has consented publicly on his website to the ICO
releasing information about this:
"John Cross ... offered to make an FOI request to find out if such
a complaint or enquiry was made. ... I am very happy for the ICO to
release any information it holds with respect to complaints about
rtaylor.co.uk and as Clare Blair has now made public the fact she
contacted the ICO I can see no barrier to them at least confirming
or denying the contact Clare Blair claims took place actually did.
."

It would be most helpful if you could confirm or deny holding any
relevant information promptly (say within ten working days) even if
it takes a little longer to respond in full.
Yours faithfully,
John Cross
