Trevor R Nunn made this Freedom of Information request to Bromley Borough Council
The request was successful.
From: Trevor R Nunn
2 October 2008
Dear Sir or Madam,
Pre-question clarification: A complaint against a council may
consist purely on an administrative error or it may also include a
potentially criminal act and/or infringements of a complainants
civil rights (legal and/or human rights).
Therefore, I would like the following information, over the last 12
months, as a percentage of total complaints against the council how
many ended up being dealt with by,
1)the Local Government Ombudsman?
2)the Police?
3)Solicitors and/or the courts?
Yours faithfully,
Trevor R Nunn

Thank you for your request for information which I received on 3
October. Your request is now receiving attention and you should hear
from the council within 20 working days of receipt.
Sometimes a fee is payable if it is estimated that a request will take a
council officer more than 18 hours to locate and copy the information
and to send it out. If that is the case, I will let you know and a fees
notice will be sent to you. You will then have to pay before we can
proceed to deal with your request.
Please contact me if you have any concerns.
Best wishes

Dear Mr Nunn
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request. I am able to answer
part 1 of your request relatively easily. During 2007/08 the Local
Ombudsman investigated 47 complaints, which is 1.3% of the total number of
complaints the London Borough of Bromley received during the same period.
I am seeking further information from colleagues regarding points 2 and
3. I will be on leave until 4th November but should be in a position to
provide the information requested when I return.

Dear Mr Nunn
I am writing further to my e-mail dated 21st October and please accept my
apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
I have now received confirmation from colleagues that we know of no
complaints which, having gone through our complaints procedure, have ended
up being dealt with by either the Police or Solicitors/the Courts.
