Dear Rogan, Julian,
i find it strange that your reply clearly states, that you haven't
had any complaints made to the govermant ombudsman in the last 5 yr
s when i know this is untrue.also i find it strange as i know of a
case where a person is still waiting for information requested some
2yr s on after even having court orders made for this information
to be released..i would there for ask you to check this information
again..maybe it would help you in your response if you spoke to
galina Smithson from your department..also maybe speaking with
councillor Laurie Harrison as you didn't supply him either with the
information he requested...
Yours sincerely,
wayne barrett

Dear Mr Barrett,
I refer to your request for information with regard to "how many people who have requested all information held on file by the Social Services from the Data Protection Department of Wakefield Council have received it all on time in the last 5 years and how many have had to make numerous requests for all the information requested in the last 5 years. Also how many complaints against the data protection department have been reported to the government ombudsman for failing to provide all information requested on time in the last 5years".
Following an internal review we have re checked our records as you requested and I can confirm that we have no record in the last 5 years of any requester having to make numerous requests for all the information they requested.
We have again re checked our records and in the last 5 years we have received no complaints from the Government Ombudsman for failing to provide all the information requested on time. However, complaints regarding breaches of information are held by the Information Commissioners Office and we have no record of receiving such a complaint.
As the Information Commissioner may deal with many complaints received from the public and may deal with some of these internally without contacting the Council, it may be helpful if you contact the Information Commissioner who may be able to help you with your request. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at the address below.
I can also confirm that in the last 5 years the Council has not received any written requests for information from the elected member that you named requesting the personal information of another person.
If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow SK9 5AF.
Any future correspondence you may have with the Authority in relation to this matter should be marked private & confidential and sent to the Freedom of Information Officer, Room 51, County Hall, Wakefield WF1 2QW.
