Dear Local Government Ombudsmen,
I refer to Doncaster Borough Council which has recently been
described as failing and dysfunctional. It is also on the record
that another regulator stated that "The people of Doncaster are not
well-served by their council."
Please provide under the Freedom of Information Act the following
figures. How many complaints were made in total as regards DBC in
the following years.
2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001 and 2000.
Please also supply the figures in each year for the following 6
categories.
1/ Reports finding maladministration (with or without injustice)
2/ Local settlements
3/ No, or insufficient evidence of maladministration
4/ Ombudsman’s discretion not to pursue the complaint
5/ Outside the Ombudsman’s jurisdiction
6/ Premature complaints (not complained to the council first)
Yours faithfully,
TONY WISE.

Not the bit monitored by the LGO. In their 2009 annual review of Doncaster Mr Seex states the Council’s complaints procedure is working satisfactorily. So much for the competence and integrity of the LGO.
In the 2008 Doncaster annual review the LGO state 'Part of our role is to provide advice and guidance about good administrative practice'.
Was the advice that bad?
