Dear HM Revenue and Customs,

This Freedom of Information request concerns the following
communications:

1 - 12 April 2010 - to Inland Revenue Merseyside, Sefton Area, The
Triad, Stanley Road, BOOTLE, Merseyside L75 1HT sent by Peter
Hughes, Tax Compliance Manager, Wirral Borough Council, enclosing a
cheque in payment of Income Tax and National Insurance payments
which the Council 'forgot' to remit to HMRC the previous financial
year in respect of an ex-gratia payment to a former employee.

2 - 16 April 2010 - to Law Enforcement Intelligence, Centre for
Revenue Intelligence, FREEPOST NAT 22785, Cardiff, CF14 5GX, and
copied subsequently to HM Revenue & Customs Tax Evasion Hotline
Team, Albert Bridge House, 1 Bridge Street, Manchester, M60 9DX,
from me [Margaret Robinson] making a formal complaint about Wirral
Borough Council's evasion of tax in respect of an ex-gratia payment
to a former employee. This also contained documentary evidence
backing up my complaint which had been received from Wirral Borough
Council following my FoI requests to them.

3 - 1 July 2010 - to Inland Revenue Merseyside, Sefton Area, The
Triad, Stanley Road, BOOTLE, Merseyside L75 1HT from Peter Hughes,
Tax Compliance Manager, Wirral Borough Council apologising for
having provided HMRC with the incorrect details in respect of an
ex-gratia payment to a former employee.

Would you please provide me with copies of HMRC responses to the
three letters detailed above, redacting them where necessary to
protect the identity of the former employee concerned.

Yours faithfully,
Margaret Robinson
