Dear Ms Lay
I refer to your email on 17 May 2008 requesting a response to a
previous email. Please accept my apologies that you have not received a
reply to your email on 16 April 2008 but I cannot find any trace of that
mail. I assure you that this is unusual as most requests are filtered
through to this team fairly quickly and we endeavour to answer all our
Freedom of Information requests within the 20 day legal deadline.
From your request I understand that you want to know about any
companies or directors or board members whose address is listed on the
public register at 3rd Floor, Surrey House, 34 Eden Street Kingston Upon
Thames KT1 1ER.
Freedom of Information requests are requests for information for
anything not on the public register. Under section 21 of the Freedom of
Information Act any information that is reasonably accessible to the
applicant, albeit on payment of a fee, is exempt information under the
Act. Your request is for information that is already in the public
domain i.e. on the public register but is not readily available through
our normal products and services list. However, Companies House does
offer a service for ‘bespoke’ products, where on receipt of a request
for information our IT section will, if possible, write a programme for
our system to extract the information required from the public register.
There is of course a charge for this service, which is determined by
time and resource etc. If you would like to proceed with this request
and you are prepared to pay for this bespoke product, please let me know
and I shall pass your enquiry to the appropriate team in Companies House
who will contact you with regard to the cost of the enquiry.
I hope that I have explained why we must refuse your request for
information under section 21 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. If
you wish to challenge this decision you have the right to request an
internal review of the decision within two calendar months of this
email. If you are then not satisified with the outcome of the internal
review, you will have the right to appeal the decision with the
Information Commissioner who can be contacted at The Information
Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire,
SK9 5AF.
If you wish an internal review please write to me and I will arrange
for a senior member of Companies House to conduct the review and respond
to you directly.
Regards
Mrs C Harnett
