Dear Sir or Madam,

Under the Freedom of Information Act, I would like to know the
following information:

1) How many staff work in communications, marketing, advertising,
promotions and public relations in your authority. For the
avoidance of doubt this should include staff in a central
department and directorates, plus any retained freelance workers.

2) The structure of communications, marketing, advertising,
promotions and public relation (ie structure chart/organogram with
job roles)

3) The job title of the most senior staff member employed in
communications, marketing, advertising, promotions and public
relation.

4) The age of the most senior staff member employed in
communications, marketing and public relations.

5) The average age of staff members employed in communications,
marketing, advertising, promotions and public relation.

6) The proportion of staff members employed in communications,
marketing, advertising, promotions and public relation holding a)
journalistic qualifications b) public relations qualifications c)
marketing qualifications

I would like to receive the information electronically by this
website.

If my request is denied in whole or in part, I ask that you justify
all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act. I
will also expect you to release all non-exempt material. I reserve
the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to
charge excessive fees.

Dear  Mr Kemp

Further to your request regarding communications, marketing, advertising,
promotions and public relations, Bolton Council is able to provide the
following information:

     1) How many staff work in communications, marketing, advertising,

     promotions and public relations in your authority. For the

     avoidance of doubt this should include staff in a central

     department and directorates, plus any retained freelance workers.

    

Answer: Total staff: 35, including three admin support roles

     2) The structure of communications, marketing, advertising,

     promotions and public relation (i.e structure chart/organogram
with

     job roles)

Answer: Please see attached structure chart

    

     3) The job title of the most senior staff member employed in

     communications, marketing, advertising, promotions and public

     relation.

    

Answer: Assistant Director, Communications and Marketing

     4) The age of the most senior staff member employed in

     communications, marketing and public relations.

    

Answer: We consider that this information is exempt from disclosure
because it is personal data about the individual concerned and to release
it would contravene the principles of the Data Protection Act 1998. It is
therefore exempt from disclosure under section 40(2) of the Freedom of
Information Act.

     5) The average age of staff members employed in communications,

     marketing, advertising, promotions and public relation.

    

Answer. We do not hold this information. The Freedom of Information Act
does not require us to create new information which we do not currently
hold. 

     6) The proportion of staff members employed in communications,

     marketing, advertising, promotions and public relation holding a)

     journalistic qualifications b) public relations qualifications c)

     marketing qualifications

Answer:

            a) Journalism qualifications: 9%

            b) Public relations qualifications: 15%

            c) Marketing qualifications: 43%

Please note this is based on the numbers given above minus admin and
support roles.
