FOI CASE: 120924
Thank you for your Freedom of Information request about Commonwealth Day,
which was received on 7 July 2009.

You asked for the release of all documents held by the department on the
2009 Commonwealth Day, including details of expenditure to promote and
celebrate the day. All information available about Commonwealth Day held
in the UK this year or in the previous year.

Please note that your request has been dealt with under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000. Under the Act, you have the right to:
· know whether we hold the information you require
· be provided with that information (subject to any exemptions
under the Act which might apply).

Following a search of our records, I can confirm that the DCMS holds no
documents on the 2009 Commonwealth Day.

The department holds no details of expenditure to promote or celebrate
Commonwealth Day 2009, beyond that relating to the raising of the
Commonwealth flags on the day for which this department is responsible.
This year, exceptionally, the Commonwealth flags were raised for a period
of one week in recognition of the Commonwealth's 60^th anniversary, at a
cost of £15,266.92.

Commonwealth Day is organised and run by the Royal Commonwealth Society.
