Dear Mr Walker

Freedom of Information Request Reference No: 2008050004704

I write in connection with your request for information dated which was
received by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) on 19/05/2008. I note
you seek access to the following information:

Question
1. The names and ranks/grades of all Metropolitan Police employees
who are Common Purpose "graduates".

2. Please detail total expenditure by the Metropolitan Police on Common
Purpose courses for each of the following years:

2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 to date.

The cost of providing you with the information requested is above the
amount to which we are legally required to respond. i.e the cost of
locating and retrieving the information exceeds the 'appropriate level' as
stated in the Freedom of Information (Fees and Appropriate Limit)
Regulations 2004. It is estimated that it would cost £650 to comply with
your request.

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 2000, this letter acts
as a Refusal Notice.

You may wish to refine your request so that it reduces the cost shown
above.

We would be able to provide within cost the total MPS spend for each year
from 2004 to 2008 to date.

Please contact me if you would like some advice on refining your request.
